Game of Thrones, Season 4

The War of the Five Kings is drawing to a close. Three of the five kings are dead (Joffrey Baratheon, Robb Stark, and Renly Baratheon), and sweet, innocent Tommen has succeeded Joffrey on the Iron Throne.

Of the two kings left standing, Stannis Baratheon is still gunning for the Iron Throne, and seems to be bouncing back after his defeat in the Battle of the Blackwater back in Season 2. Balon Greyjoy isn’t interested in the Iron Throne, but rather wants the Iron Islands to secede from the Seven Kingdoms.

Secretly, of course, there’s one more would-be monarch in the game. Daenerys Targaryen continues her march across Essos, freeing slaves and picking up followers wherever she goes. Once her dragons and her army are big enough, the plan goes, she’ll retake the Iron Throne.

An adaptation of author George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" medieval fantasies about power struggles among the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros.
