Synopsis

On an isolated island, sixteen-year-old Julija dreams of escaping from her home and the island mentality. Her life begins to change when Javier, her father’s friend and former employer, returns to the island after seven years. Javier decides to stay with them for a few days. Julija notices that relationships and dynamics in the family change in Javier’s presence; her father Ante softens his traditional authority, and her mother awakens a forgotten sensuality. Julija wanders into imagining that Javier is her real father who will lead her to the life she has always dreamed of. Julija has nothing left to lose, so she decides to break the chains of her family and accepts the fact that, if she wants to escape from the patriarchal family, she must lose a part of herself in order to be free.
