The film was shot almost entirely in the area of Konavle, 20 kilometres from Dubrovnik. With its natural isolation, as well as its proximity to the airport, the location had a great effect on the development of characters in Mare.

Synopsis
Mare has never flown, although she lives right next to the airport with her husband and three teenage children. She loves her family, but sometimes almost feels like a stranger in her own home. She finds herself gazing at the planes overhead, longing for change and the unknown. One day, a man moves in next door, and Mare puts her life to the test.
